The first 6 months of my life were spent in an orphanage, (the start of disconnection). It is believed that the first 3 months of a child’s life is important for the bonding years. Having said that, there was no Mother/Daughter connection. After the six month span, an older couple (for that era) adopted me. Yet and still, there was still no Mother/Daughter connection.

I always felt disconnected from the family that adopted me (never knowing of the adoption until the age of 30). Always having a connection to, it seemed individuals that had no family and/or were adopted. Through my lifetime, it always bothered me to see teen girls with no Mother/Daughter connection, and turning to entities just to receive or feel some sense of love. These young ladies and I would build bonds of trust. I became the protector both naturally and spiritually, wanting them to have a life deserving of their worth.

As a teen, I could never understand why I connected more to children and young ladies in need; on or around my 30th birthday, all of these feelings of not knowing were revealed! I found out I was adopted! My heart sank and the non trust mechanism began. I began to have night mares of why I had a mother that didn’t want me. After meeting my biological mother, GOD let me know, had she not placed me for adoption, I would not have come to know Him, everything happens for a reason. Despite how I got here, GOD has purpose for my life; He later placed a Mother in my life that needed to be there in that season, and is still praying with and for me in this season.

An administrator by profession (and former teacher), learning the ropes of several types of businesses, from advertising, marketing, print production, nonprofit, education and medical, it brought me to the realization, there has to be more that can be done to benefit young adults. I’ve shared my thoughts and aspirations with others; of course you run across the nay sayers, trying to discourage your vision, be careful with whom you share your dream/vision with. I continued visualizing a place of safety for young ladies aging from 18 and up. I’ve even seen the actual layout of the safety place in a dream. When laid off from employment from a company I was with for twenty years, it was at first (the 1st week) devastating, GOD sent a word to me, “you would have never left if the door was never closed!” Talk about an eye opener!

After six months or less of rest, (during a time when unemployment was at an all time high) another door opened, for which (in my opinion) I was not qualified for. I couldn’t understand why I was at this place of business, until one day! The COO and I were chatting about his wife and the volunteer work she does with “Women & Children”; he also informed me, the owner of the company, works with “throw-aways”, hmmm what a strange name I thought, the throw-aways are children reaching adult age without a family. GOD will always put you in the right place at the right time, when it’s your time. I shared my dream with others on the job, the response was amazing, “when you’re ready let me know, I can put you in touch with the right people. There are many that would like to partner in your aspirations for a safe place.” In a particular conversation, GOD revealed the name of the soon to come safe place!

Patience, perseverance and waiting on GOD is a task that we often times overlook, due to wanting the microwave finishing; “Isaiah 40:31, But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” don’t faint or walk away for the dream. There are things with the vision that are still being ironed out, people are being put into place, courses are being offered, board of directors are being organized. When GOD has purpose for your life, nothing can stop the vision that “He” gives you. It may not happen overnight, but rest assure, it’s coming to pass. Stay encouraged, and watch GOD work. Know that you were placed here for a reason and your season is coming.
